Chapter 12: Site-wide Settings¶
Overview¶
Essentials uses two separate configuration areas for site-wide settings: 1. Branding & Layout - Visual branding and layout options 2. Settings - Site metadata, analytics, and business information
Both are accessed from the main left-hand navigation menu.
Branding & Layout¶
Configure your site's visual branding and layout options here.
Site Branding Tab¶
- Site Title: Displayed in browser tabs and search results
- Branding Mode: Choose between displaying Logo or Site Title + Slogan
- Logo: Upload your main logo (JPG, PNG, or SVG)
- Retina Logo: Optional high-resolution version for hi-DPI displays
Header Tab¶
- Configure header layout and navigation settings
- Control header style and behavior
Footer Tab¶
- Footer layout options
- Footer navigation configuration
- Social media icon display
Additional tabs may vary based on your Essentials installation.
Settings¶
Manage site metadata, analytics, and business information.
Main Tab¶
- Site Title & Tagline: Core site information
- Default Email Address: For system notifications
Social Sharing Tab¶
- Configure Open Graph and Twitter Card metadata
- Control how your site appears when shared on social media
Google Analytics Tab¶
- Add your Google Analytics tracking ID
- Enable enhanced eCommerce tracking
Metadata Tab¶
MicroData Sub-tab (see Chapter 13 for details): - Organization information - Primary business location - Contact information - Additional locations
Map Coordinates, Opening Hours, Same As: - Business hours configuration - Geographic data - Social profile links for structured data
Social Tab¶
- Social media profile URLs (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Leave blank to hide specific social icons
Important Notes¶
- Always click Save after making changes
- Color palettes are defined by developers in config files (see Chapter 7) and cannot be changed through the CMS
- Changes in these sections affect the entire website
